I am the first CPA to be elected to this office in 50 years and the first Certified Management Accountant (CMA) to ever hold this office.  Our State is in a severe financial crisis that affects you and every person in Nevada. It is now more important than ever to have a Controller with the education, qualifications and experience to fulfill the duties of this office. As Controller, I have made this office more efficient and saved money for the people of Nevada. One example is the improvement in debt collection. The Controller is responsible for collecting debts owed to the State and when I came in we were collecting only 11%!  With just a few key changes, we are now collecting 35% and our ultimate goal is to collect 75% or better.  This is just one of the many improvements that I have made in this office and we have started working with other State agencies to improve their performance as well.  I want to continue this kind of fiscally responsible policies to improve our State’s efficiency in every way.
